Can we combine a chromatic journey with a scientific exhibition? How can we distill complex concepts into visual windows? How do we create the right rhythm between space and information?

These were the questions that guided us in “DNA AND – Between Science and Modern Consciousness”, an ambitious project set up at the Bozzoli Drying Plant in San Vito al Tagliamento (Italy) and born from the synergy between Emporio della Scienza APS, Eupolis Studio Associato and the world of visual arts.

The challenge was clear: design a museum experience accessible to all, capable of stimulating sight, touch, and hearing — an interactive journey where visitors could fully immerse themselves in the marvels of DNA. With this in mind, we set out to explore how visual art can make the microscopic world of DNA tangible, playful, and engaging. The images and animations we developed, thanks to the vision of Emporio della Scienza, guide the audience through a vibrant experience, inviting them to see, touch, listen, and actively interact with the exhibition.

It’s not just about viewing images or reading panels — the entire sensory design of the exhibition was crafted to transform knowledge into experience, making learning intuitive, memorable, and emotional. Even the story of the discovery of DNA becomes a game, while questions like What makes each individual unique? What are genetic tests? Do they work? become opportunities for exploration and wonder.

The entire exhibition pathway was designed not only to narrate the history of DNA, from its discovery to modern applications, but also to be organized chromatically — using color as a tool to support memory retention and visual orientation. Each section was carefully crafted to alternate informative reading with moments of interaction and play, ensuring the experience was engaging for both adults and children alike.

The flow of information was conceived to stimulate curiosity, offering visitors the chance to touch, explore, and participate, transforming complex scientific content into accessible and enjoyable learning. The experience was further enriched through a combination of audio elements, video content, projections, and interactive stations, all contributing to a multisensory journey where education and wonder go hand in hand.

Our role was to shape the visual identity of the exhibition and bring it to life through color, design, rhythm, and interaction. From multimedia content to tactile panels, every detail was curated to promote scientific understanding and to convey the beauty of science — for everyone.
